Valvular (60-70%)
* Degeneration leaflets
* Bicuspid
* Rheumatoid
Subvalvular (15-30%)
* Idiopathic hypertrophic subaortic stenosis (IHSS); 50% dominant
* Congential (membranous, fibromuscular tunnel)
Supravalvular (rare); Coronary arteries dilated secondary to increased pressures at their origin.
* Williams syndrome
* rubella
Clinical
Symptoms:
* LV failure (common)
* Angina, 50%
* Syncope (in severe stenosis)
* Sudden death in children, 5%
Treatment:
* Surgical
