Double knot or compound volvulus
As the volvulus of the sigmoid takes place in the pelvis, wraping of small bowel around it may create a compound volvulus of the sigmoid and SB onstruction in the same time. Surgeons should be aware of this phenomenon..

I think when you see a volvulus, specially sigmoid one, and small bowel obstruction in the same time, it will be enough for diagnosis of compound volvulus.Urgent state of the patient may not allow further procedures.

Is this AXR enough to diagnose double volvulus or we should proceed for another investigation to confirm this diagnosis ?
