Connecting Radiology | Enabling collaboration and professional development

COURSE DESCRIPTION:

This four week course will present a comprehensive review of radiologic imaging with emphasis on the principles of radiologic-pathologic correlation. Approximately 95% of United States radiology residents attend the course at some point during their training. Additionally, a large number of radiology residents from Canada, Spain, Switzerland, The Netherlands and numerous other nations regularly attend the course. The faculty will include current and former members of the Department of Radiologic Pathology at the AFIP as well as other experts in the field. The lectures discuss the radiologic presentation of a broad range of diseases from all organ systems. All imaging modalities will be discussed. Although the course may be beneficial at any stage of training, residents generally attend in their 2nd, 3rd, or 4th year, as most lecturers assume that participants have at least some experience with a variety of imaging modalities.

The following organizations provide support for the four week course in Radiologic Pathology:

* American College of Radiology
* Radiological Society of North America
* American Roentgen Ray Society
* American Osteopathic College of Radiology
* Berlex
* Elscint
* E-Z-EM
* Nycomed Amersham
* ATL/Advanced Technology Laboratories

OBJECTIVES:

The participant will be able to:

* apply the principles of radiologic-pathologic correlation to the interpretation of radiologic studies.
* apply an understanding of the clinical and pathologic implications of the radiologic appearances of image interpretation.
* refine differential diagnoses in various organ systems based on specific imaging features.
