LOCATION: The Armed Forces Institute of Pathology (AFIP), Building 54, and the Radiologic Pathology Education Center, Building 53, are on the campus of the Walter Reed Army Medical Center (WRAMC). WRAMC is in Northwest Washington D.C., approximately two miles North of the DC and Maryland line.

CLASS FORMAT: Classes are conducted in the Radiologic Pathology Education Center, Building 53. Lectures begin promptly at 8:00 a.m. until Noon. Lunch is from 12:00 p.m. - 12:30 p.m. Afternoon lectures begin at 12:30 p.m. until 3:30 p.m. Seminars begin at 3:30 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Federal holidays and government closings (e.g. "snow days") are observed.
FOREIGN NATIONALS: Non U.S. citizen must obtain approval prior to attending courses at the Armed Forces Institute of Pathology. Please follow the Procedures for International Applicants.
APPROPRIATE ATTIRE: Military uniform is required of all active duty military residents attending the Four-Week Course.Civilians should dress in appropriate attire.
LIBRARY: Ash Library is located on the first floor of the AFIP (closed for renovation until April 2004). The Medical Library, Health Information Services, is located in the WRAMC. The libraries are available for use; however, sign out privileges are not granted. The U.S. National Library of Medicine (NLM) is located on the campus of the National Institute of Health (NIH) in Bethesda, 8600 Rockville Pike, Bethesda, MD. NIH is accessible via WRAMC Shuttle services and Metrorail's Red Line.
COMPUTER LAB: The Computer Lab is located in Educational Services in Delano Hall, Building 11, Third floor, Room 302. For admission, identification badges must be shown. Computers are available for word processing and Internet access.
TELEPHONE: Public telephones must be used for all outgoing and incoming calls, with the exception of emergency calls. Incoming emergency calls may be directed to (202) 782-2268.
FAX MACHINE: There is not a fax machine available for outgoing or incoming faxes. However, incoming emergency faxes may be sent to (202) 782-8124. All incoming faxes will be placed in the "resident mailbox" located in the lounge.
MAIL: A full service Post Office is located in Building 1, First floor, West Wing. The post office is opened from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. All mail should be forwarded to the temporary place of residence (i.e. apartment, hotel, etc.). BANKING: Banking facilities are not available to cash personal checks. Automated teller machines are located in the lobby of the Walter Reed Army Hospital, and in Building 1. National bank cards accepted: Cirrus, The Exchange, Visa, American Express, Most, Plus, and Armed Forces Financial Network. Residents should possess adequate funds for the duration of the Course.
MEALS: Lunch is provided on the first day of class, only. Dinning establishments are within walking distance of the classroom.
EXERCISE FACILITIES: The WRAMC recreation center is available for use by residents attending the Radiologic Pathology Course. A $20 usage fee is required to use the equipment in the WRAMC exercise center and can be purchased from the center staff. AFIP Identification Cards are issued on the first day of the Course. Exercise facilities are not available for guests of residents.
SHUTTLE SERVICE: Shuttle services are provided by WRAMC. Shuttles run between WRAMC, Forest Glen (throughout the complex) and Bethesda (U.S. Naval Hospital and NIH). Shuttle services are not provided on Sundays and holidays.
PARKING: Parking is not available on the campus of the WRAMC, street parking is limited to two hours, the most convenient mode of transportation is public transportation: Metrobus and Metrorail.
