Position: VP, ASSOCIATE MEDICAL DIRECTOR – ONCOLOGY
Compensation: $140K - $200K
OVERVIEW:
Become an integral part of a creative advertising team. The therapeutic VP, Medical Director is critical to providing sound scientific expertise to the process. No two days are ever the same in this ever changing dynamic environment. There has been absolutely no turnover within this department in over 7 years.
Our client is a subsidiary of the one of the world's largest media conglomerates. Their focus is on pharmaceutical marketing strategies from direct-to-consumer to developing physician education strategies. What sets our client apart from their competitors is the Medical and Scientific Affairs department. With over 20 advanced degreed Directors, this division provides scientific guidance along all steps of the marketing process.

QUALIFICATIONS:
• MD, PharmD, or PhD with prior clinical or industry experience
• Residency and/or fellowship training required
• Therapeutic expertise recognized internally and by client
• Strong communications skills: presentation and written
• Strong interpersonal skills
• Strong leadership skills
• Ability to work independently
• Self-motivated
• Ability to develop strong relationships with healthcare professionals

SUPERVISOR:
SVP, Group Medical Director, Medical and Scientific Affairs
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Internal Job Responsibilities include:
General
• Participates in new business development
• Maintain key therapeutic area
• Integrate with the various teams
Internal Educator/Resource
• Participate in MSA department projects
• Answer medical and scientific agency questions
• Research literature and other relevant sources to answer agency questions
• Provide presentations to the agency to expand knowledge on disease states and products
• Review clinical literature for new information for agency products and share with appropriate teams
• Review press releases for new information for agency products and share with appropriate teams
• Attend scientific and clinical meetings to obtain competitive intelligence
• Analyze clinical trial data for agency personnel
• Provide regular (quarterly, or each POA) updates to staff regarding the latest developments in therapeutic categories where does business
• Keep on top of industry trends and ensure appropriate team members are informed as well
Medical Strategist
• Function as a medical strategist in agency brainstorming activities
• Assess new market opportunities for current and pipeline products
• Participate as medical/scientific representative in strategy sessions
• Create, assist in development, or review market research documents (product description, physician screener, interview guide)
• Maintain a working knowledge of strategic direction across multiple products within the agency
• Provide medical/scientific assessment for new business pitches when requested
• Present medical/scientific section at new business pitches when requested
• Act as a scientific sounding board for product positioning and strategies
Medical Liaison
• Identify national and global opinion leaders
• Interview national and global opinion leaders
• Act as a liaison between the agency and key consultants/opinion leaders
Miscellaneous
• Maintain technical expertise
• Attend relevant market research
• Represent the agency at business-related functions as requested
• Exhibit dress, behavior, and conduct fitting for the role of Medical and Scientific Affairs
Client-related responsibilities:
• Establish and maintain strong relationships with client medical, marketing, and product management directors
• Individually represent at client meetings when needed
• Proactively identify opportunities for medical projects
• Answer medical and scientific client questions
• Research literature and other relevant sources to answer client questions
• Function as a medical strategist in agency/client meetings
• Attend scientific and clinical meetings to obtain competitive intelligence
• Provide competitive intelligence reports of medical conventions
• Provide or review written scientific projects
• Provide or review slide kits
• Analyze clinical trial data
• Act as a medical/scientific resource
