Medical Director – US Group Health, InterConsultation

Description:
The Medical Director will be the medical leader for the US Group Health business of Best Doctors. In this role the Medical Director will provide day-to-day clinical oversight of the Best Doctors Medical Analytical Process and contribute to ongoing improvement of service to individual patients and doctors, and lead the clinical aspects of new product development.

We are looking for a clinically trained medical doctor, preferably with experience in internal medicine. Training in other specialties is also acceptable; board-certification and experience in research are not required but would be considered a plus. The ideal candidate will be a physician eager to contribute and lead in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial business. The ideal candidate will be able to jump readily from a discussion of a case with a renowned expert to problem-solving with our internal team of clinicians.

Responsibilities:
The primary responsibilities of the Medical Director are:
• Provide support to clinical operations staff in the review of patient cases and coordinate preparation and distribution of clinical summaries for use by medical experts;
• Work with physician consultants and oversee application of the company’s patented Medical Analytic Process to individual cases;
• Coordinate effective communication of conclusions of expert medical reviews to treating physicians/and or patients;
• Design and implement processes for clinical quality review and improvement of services; and
• Provide leadership in the development of the clinical components of the company’s products and services.
Skills and Experience:
The key qualifications for the Medical Director include:
• Ability to present complex information to a range of audiences including medical experts, clinical staff, patients, and customers;
• Excellent written and personal presentation skills;
• Ability to act as problem solver both in the inside and outside the clinical arena;
• Experience working in a health plan or insurance company is NOT required, but knowledge of medical claims is a plus;
• Research experience is a plus; and
• Experience working in data analytics and informatics is a plus.
Education:
• M.D., board certified or eligible preferred.
• Recent clinical training or fellowship experience in Internal Medicine or a related subspecialty preferred.
