Emory University has an unexpected position in our interventional radiology and image-guided medicine fellowship program for July 2008.
The Emory IR fellowship is a dynamic program based at the prestigious Emory University Hospital with the renowned Winship Cancer Institute, the highly ranked Egleston Children's Hospital, and the Grady Memorial Hospital (one of the largest municipal hospitals in the nation).
Our fellowship encompasses the entire spectrum of traditional and new IR procedures with strong oncologic, transplant, trauma, vascular and pediatric IR services. Chemoembolization, radioembolization, UFE, RFA, cryoablation, endovenous laser ablation and TIPS contribute significantly to the caseload. Our transplant services include heart-lung, liver, kidney, and pancreas, providing further opportunity for innovative procedures. Peripheral arterial interventions, visceral angiography, AAA and traumatic pseudoaneurysm stent graft repair cases enable our fellows to master endovascular techniques. In addition to the above described procedures, our busy clinical IR practice and an active hospital admitting service afford a superb fellowship experience.
A typical trainee exceeds 1500 patient encounters per year. Educational activities include daily work rounds, weekly didactic lectures, weekly multidisciplinary conferences as well as monthly journal club, M & M conference, and interesting case conference. Fellows may benefit from an active image-guided research program, which enjoys a collaborative relationship with the Biomedical Engineering department at the Georgia Institute of Technology. Fellow research activity will be strongly encouraged and supported
Atlanta has a moderate 4 season climate. The city is cosmopolitan, with excellent cultural opportunity, including theater, symphony, professional sports teams, and many festivals.
