Please refer this page written on the UCSF website, we couldn't have said it better:

http://www.radiology.ucsf.edu/residents/IMGs.shtml

As per the UCSF website (not the views of radRounds)
"We welcome your interest in our program. We seek the most qualified residents, regardless of country of education. Some of our most outstanding residents and faculty are international medical graduates (IMGs), as is our former chairman, Alexander Margulis, MD.

Please note that because of the large number of applications and the difficulty of evaluating the records of IMGs, we can offer interviews only to those IMGs who have all of the following qualifications: a strong record of research (usually in a department of radiology in the United States) with multiple first-authored publications in peer-reviewed journals; outstanding letters of recommendation, including at least one written by someone who is known to our selection committee; and high scores on both Steps 1 and 2 of the United States Medical Licensing Examination (USMLE) -- at least 240 on the three-digit scale (usually corresponding to 99 on the two-digit scale). Please bear in mind that we cannot consider IMGs who do not meet all of these criteria and that high USMLE scores are not sufficient for an interview.

Applications from IMGs are not considered to be complete until we receive evidence of ECFMG certification and a copy of the Application Status Letter from the Medical Board of California. IMGs may contact the ECFMG for information on ERAS and application procedures.

The UCSF Graduate Medical Education website has additional information.

If you will need a visa, you must obtain an ECFMG-sponsored J-1 visa. Please note that H-1b visas are not available to our trainees who are graduates of international medical schools.

We wish you the best."

What's the point behind posting this article?
I think the point is to show how much IMGs are not qualified..take it easy..
it doesn't mean you are not good..it means they don't know you good enough..but someday..they will ;-)
smile my friend..and be ready for someday to show up your power..
As an IMG, when I read these requirements, I understand that USCF has high standards and almost doesn't welcome IMG's. However, reading these requirements here on this forum gives me the impression that if you are an IMG, then forget it....try something else...and may be leave this forum.
don't stare at the empty half of the cup..yes we are IMGs..may be they don't believe in us..would you let them do ?
use your knowledge..use your intelligence..and show the brightness inside..
they can't see it as long as we don't show..
you are here to make a difference..do it..or just leave..it's all in your hand..
ya u are right its only we who can make a jugement and prove that we are much better more then what they can imagine and we will prove them that we are the best so we just have to prove them
We posted this article in response to some questions people had about the "highest standards" of admission and therefore we found this on the web, at one of the institution's website where it is posted publicly. However, there many unpublished requirements/strategies.

We agree with Dr. Ref, one must read it with a positive side as well!! :)

We believe that radiology is a global field with brilliant minds from all around the world. If you read our other post, we state that another good strategy is to perform research and do a fellowship first at an institution--you will never really find that posted anywhere, but research is often a way to demonstrate and show what a great candidate you really are at many institutions in the US.
Thank you RR for the clarification. It does now make sense why this thread was started in first place. Radiology is definitely a competitive filed and hopefully we'll reach our goal one day. Personally, I believe in research and it will be the first thing to work on after graduation.
radRounds..why don't we make a move ??
I'm sure the site has professional and experienced members who do researched all around the world..if each of them accept one of the IMGs for a simple part in the research as a start (kind of training or better..self approving), by time they can give larger parts..
I know it won't work with all researches..but some researches would benefit of international point of views or cases..
it's just a suggestion..would it face the light someday ??
