Great Web-based curriculum with objective competency testing for radiology residents (Sponsored by the University of Indiana)

Many training programs are again at that rite-of-passage when 1st-year residents are preparing to take call. The radiology department at Indiana University would like to invite program directors and their 1st-year residents to our online curriculum.

The curriculum is a 2nd-generation version of an award-winning education exhibit at the 2006 RSNA called: "Web-based curriculum with objective competency testing for radiology residents: What you must be able to recognize when you begin taking ER call." The curriculum is designed to provide some experience with cases, to provide some perspective of one's readiness, and also to introduce a bit of objective competency testing.

This is a free and confidential service with no strings attached. It's the second year we've done it, this time on a more expanded basis.

The curriculum contains 124 case-based exercises that provide a learning environment that simulates point-of-care. Participants are tested at distinguishing normal vs abnormal in addition to being tested on truly abnormal findings. Learners interpret images (e.g., clicking on abnormalities, if any), respond to embedded interactive questions, study rationales, and periodically encounter quizzes. Real-time "one-click" perspectives of self vs peer-group and self vs (historical) self are available for each learner. A confidential analytics module is provided for the program director.

We provide anonymity for learners and absolute privacy and confidentiality for all participating programs. PD's see only data pertaining to their cohort of participating "anonymized" residents. We do not access a program's tracking data at all, and we delete the data when a program's participation is completed.

In order to keep things manageable for us, we currently are limiting participation to programs in the USA and Canada, with hopes to expand access internationally.
