TITLE: Manager, Business Development Programs

POSITION:
Support and develop BIO's business development services and programs.
This includes: (1) support development of the concept, vision, and
execution for the schedule and program of BIO's conferences and other
services that promote business development within the biotech industry;
(2) outreach and communications to business development and licensing
professionals; and (2) research and analysis on licensing, alliance, and
deal trends and other business development within the biotech,
pharmaceutical, and medtech space. A secondary purpose of this position
is to manage BIO's business development executive training programs.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
*Research and analyze therapeutic, technology, alliance, licensing, and
deal trends and developments to determine programming components at
BIO's business development and partnering conferences and other events
as necessary.
*Manage the identification, selection, and scheduling of presenting
companies at these events. Identify and recruit selection/advisory
committee.
*Communicate with and conduct outreach to business development
professionals to attend BIO's partnering and other events.
*Develop and maintain relationships with business and alliance
development staff of biotech, pharma, and medtech companies to support
BIO's programs, and gain understanding of their specific motivations and
needs.
*Develop programming components for BIO's business development events,
and other events as necessary. Includes preparing programmatic budget,
recruiting panelists, identifying candidates for keynote/plenary
presentations, and managing work of consultants who assist in program
development.
*Participate in development, and under guidance from Director, Business
Development, the use of partnering software program.
*Develop and maintain relationships with corporate management, partners,
sponsors, supporters, and industry experts.
*Oversee and manage of web-sites for each meeting including applications
and handbooks for various meetings.
*Support BIO's Business Development Committee.
*Manage and direct business development executive training programs.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:
*The candidate should have a strong understanding of the biotechnology
industry and its unique partnering, alliance development, and capital
formation needs including knowledge of deal databases.
*This position should be comfortable understanding how to use databases
to develop summaries and presentations of business development,
alliance, licensing, and deal trends within the biotech, pharmaceutical,
and medtech space.
*The candidate should be able to develop relationships with the major
players in the biotech, pharmaceutical, and medtech space.
*Furthermore, the candidate should be an effective communicator with
strong writing and oral communication skills and should have experience
managing large projects as well as people management skills.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
*Advanced degree in science or medicine.
*Masters in Business Administration strongly preferred.
*Familiarity with intellectual property licensing a strong plus.
*Minimum of 4 years experience in the biotech industry, investor
relations, industry analysis, or a related industry.

MANAGERIAL RESPONSIBILITY:
*Coordinators may report to this position, dependent on experience.
