OVERVIEW
Beginning in 2014, the Vascular Surgery Board of the American Board of Surgery will require all physicians applying for the Vascular Surgery Qualifying Exam to hold the RPVI credential.
More errors in ultrasound diagnosis are made in the carotid duplex exam than any other during the first two years of practice. This course will eliminate them all in one day. From the physician perspective you'll be able to quickly identify the universe of operator errors that dramatically skew diagnostic accuracy.
Your instructor has the longest consecutive history with duplex cerebrovascular imaging in history; he'll make your classroom experience uncommonly effective and interesting. Together you will build the rapid, accurate, and clinically grounded matrix for complete data analysis and reporting.
You'll return completely prepared to begin.
There is no deeper preparation for cerebrovascular content on the RPVI Exam.
OBJECTIVES
This course is conducted independent of any commercial or institutional grant, industry support or sponsorship. No faculty members have any commercial interests or participation that might influence its content. Upon completion of this activity, you should be able to:

- Identify and correct or compensate for even the most subtle artifacts and operator errors to avoid misinterpretation f the data. |
|
- Classify hemodynamic data by multidimensional Doppler signal analysis to identify focal, proximal, and distal carotid vascular disease. |
|
- Validate carotid IMT measurement and stratify its recognized importance in estimating global CV risk. |
|
- Identify, classify, and communicate morphologic findings of atherosclerotic plaque using standardized terms for location, degree, and composition. |
|
- Apply the principles of flow direction, S/D ratio, RI, PI, and acceleration/deceleration phenomena to the transtemrporal TCD waveform. |
|
- Establish a continuous feedback channel with sonographer staff to maintain and refine quality care. |
