MEETING DESCRIPTION:
This program is designed to provide radiologists and other breast imaging health care professions with the basics as well as advances in the detection and diagnosis of breast cancer as well as benign breast lesions. The focus of this course will be evaluation of the mammogram, integration of newer modalites for mammographic interpretation, integration of FFDM/CR Mammo into clinical practice, Breast MRI, Breast Specific Gamma Imaging, CAD and Minimally Invasive Breast Biopsy.

This course will include hands on workshops for radiologists and other breast health care providers as well as separate sessions for technologists to further the learning of obtaining and interpretation of breast imaging studies.

Course Objectives:

- Correlate mammography, MRI and Ultrasound findings
- Assess benign and malignant lesions with BIRAD for mammography, ultrasound and MRI
- Integrate breast MRI into clinical practice
- Understand proper patient selections as well as proper approach to minimally invasive, image guided breast biopsy
- Understand the role as well as the data for screening ultrasound for breast cancer
- Understand the correlation of imaging findings and pathology at minimally invasive breast biopsy with concordance
- Understand the clinical implications and surgical selection following a diagnosis of a high risk lesion on minimally invasive breast biopsy
- Understand the use of CAD for mammography and breast MRI in clinical practice
- Understand the basis of and the role of Breast Specific Gamma Imaging and Nuclear Medicine imaging of the breast
- Understand the components, advantages and challenges of the transition from Film Screen to Full Field Digital/ Computed Radiography Mammography

For Radiologists:

- Have the opportunity to spend “hands on time” at workstations understanding how to interpret breast MRI
- Have the opportunity to spend “hands on time” reviewing mammography cases in soft copy with the experts

For Technologists:

- Hands on workshops to further develop positioning techniques
- Hands on workshops to further optimize techniques for full field digital/CR mammography image acquisition
