Event Description

The curriculum for “Mammography Initial Training Option 2” will provide the technologist with all of the required components of training as outlined by MQSA. You will be awarded 32 hours of Category A CE credit for the four day course including Digital Mammography Modality Specific Training. **All students registering for “Mammography Initial Training Option 2” are REQUIRED to complete the Digital Breast Tomosynthesis Modality Specific Training course - avaliable the Monday IMMEDIATELY following the Initial Training course.

Clinicals will be assigned on a first come, first serve basis beginning the Tuesday-Wednesday immediately following the conclusion of the in-class portion. ARRT certification and/or a fully unrestricted state license are required for admission to the training. This course meets the guidelines for states requiring special education for mammography.

The course includes: 24 hours of training on the core competencies as outlined by MQSA and 8 hours of Digital Mammography Modality Specific Training. You will also receive a CD with instructional materials of Film Screen Training. For more specific topics, please view the course outline below.

**If you are currently using film screen at your facility you must add the eight hour “Film Screen Modality Initial Training” home study course to your registration. The video home study covers all of the film screen modality requirements and should be completed prior to attending the course. Please note: the instructional CD given during the course does not meet the Film Screen Modality Specific Training required by MQSA to perform film screen mammograms.

The MQSA training requirements for 40 hours will be accomplished by completing the 32 hour training course (40 hours for those requiring film screen modality specific training) and documenting performance of 25 hands-on supervised mammography procedures. AHEC offers two options for completion of the clinical component of the training.
