MEETING DESCRIPTION:
Mammography Fellowship Initial MQSA Training Requirement for Mammography If you are looking for a comprehensive course on mammography skill training and enhancement, this is the course for you! You will cover every aspect of a mammography procedure required to meet initial training requirements as outlined by MQSA . The topics cov-ered will include anatomy and physiology, hands-on positioning lab, film critique sessions and clinical participation. Quality control, pathology, special procedures and imaging the augmented breast are a must for the new mammography technologist and will be cov-ered in detail as highlights in this class. The instructional material provided is a great resource once you return to the workplace. This practical approach to learning mammography is applicable to all technologists performing mammography. Professional liability in-surance is provided for on-site clinical rotations. Clinical dress codes apply for the clinical rotations. ARRT certification and/or a fully unre-stricted state license are required for admission to the training. Registration must be received at three weeks in advance for Option 2 to assure clinical rotation sites. This course has been evaluated and meets the 40 contact hour initial training requirements as mandated by the MQSA standards for the FDA. You will also receive 32 hours Category A credit. This course meets the guidelines for states requiring special education for mammography. Clinical Fellowship requires enrolled technologists to meet hospital and imaging center requirements. The following information is required for a clinical site rotation assignment. • A copy of Professional Certificate or Licensure • Letter of Good Health • Current Immunizations to include: Tuberculosis (documentation of negative PPD or negative CXR report within the last 12 months, Hepatitis B series (documentation of completed series and/or positive titer, or deferral), Tetanus within the last 10 years, Varicella (chicken pox)-(immunization, positive history by MD letter, positive titer), MMR date or titer date, current influenza vac-cination. • Urine drug screen • Copy of Current CPR • Professional attire for clinical days • A signed background release form with a copy of current driver’s license and social security card and date of birth. The release form will be emailed to you when you register for class. Employment verifications • Last two employers o Name of employer o Contact name o Contact phone number This information must be provided 3 weeks prior to the first day of class. $105 charge for Liability insurance for Clinical Rotation, Professional License and Background Checks **Participants in this class who will be performing clinical examinations in a digital mammography department or wish to meet initial requirements in film-screen and digital mammography must register for the Monday course following the fellowship. Fellowship Course Topics Day 1 (Thursday) • Introduction • Radiation Physics and Mammography • Quality Control and Quality Assurance - Analog - The Eleven technologist quality control tests - How to perform and evaluate each required test.
