Hot Button Topics in Radiology

Learning Objectives
This five-day seminar is designed for the radiologist in clinical practice. It will focus on "hot button topics", many which have been highlighted by the media in the past year. In addition, recent advances in cross sectional imaging including, PET/CT, CTA, MRI, and Ultrasound will be covered. Emphasis will be placed on advanced techniques, practical tips, pitfalls and artifacts, imaging protocols and interpretation. This year's course will include lectures related to challenging, missed and tough cases. Course participants will have the opportunity to interact directly with the faculty in question and answer sessions following each lecture. Course participants will also be encouraged to ask questions and discuss specific issues that they consider interesting or controversial. The goal of the program is for each attendee to take information away from the meeting that will enhance their clinical practice.

Upon completion of the program, participants will be able to:
• Solve imaging problems related to the use of PET/CT in the evaluation of gynecologic, lung and breast cancer
• Optimize and better interpret MRI in evaluating breast lesions
• Effectively utilize CT colonography to screen patients for polypoid lesions
• Utilize new clinical applications in PET and image fusion
• Use tips to minimize pitfalls in the US diagnosis of uterine abnormalities and nonmass renal problem
• Employ new insights in the evaluation of patients with thyroid cancer and understand which nodules should under aspiration
• Apply the latest principles, techniques and optimization in order to perform CTA of the heart and coronary vessels
• Understand new challenges related to imaging the abdomen and pelvis with CT
• Enumerate controversies in breast MR related to over diagnosis, treatment, scan technique and image acquisition

The University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

Credit Designation
