Fundamentals of Digital Technology
The greatest advances in the history of medicine are happening now through the explosion in new technology and the era of electronic imaging is here! Healthcare is now dependent upon electronic recordings such as PACS and the electronic medical record. This course is the "Readers Digest” version of digital imaging in medicine. The course provides a thorough understanding of CR and DR technology and exposure techniques, plus insight into working with PACS, RIS workstations and more…
Objectives
At the conclusion of the course, the learner will be able to:
• Describe the responsibilities and functions of PACS system administrators.
• Explain the computed radiography (CR) technology, including the CR reader and the CR imaging plate.
• List the advantages and disadvantages of CR.
• Define ddR and describe the methods of image recording using direct digital.
• Compare and contrast CR and DR, as well as the workflow differences between CR, DR and film-based imaging.
• Describe the process of economically evaluating the viability of digital imaging and PACS, and formulating an RFP.
• Describe the basic operation of a computer system and the differences between a workstation and a computer.
