MEETING DESCRIPTION:
After attending CURRENT PRACTICE OF VASCULAR ULTRASOUND, each participant will:
- Integrate Doppler waveform analysis into the interpretation of vascular studies
- Recognize the pathologic characteristics of abnormal blood flow patterns
- Apply the diagnostic criteria for carotid artery disease
- Optimize the color Doppler and pulsed wave Doppler technical parameters form improved diagnostic accuracy
- Establish protocols for reliable and consistent performance of carotid artery Doppler examinations
- Recognize and avoid pitfalls of the carotid Doppler examination
- Recognize the technical needs for integrating carotid IMT into their clinical practice
- Diagnose complex and unusual cerebrovascular pathologies
- Compare the diagnostic accuracy of Doppler ultrasound to MRI and CT angiography
- Achieve improved patient outcomes through vascular ultrasound practice
- Distinguish normal from abnormal venous waveforms
- Diagnose and evaluate the significance of venous insufficiency
- Appropriately integrate ultrasound with CT and MRI in the diagnostic workup of thromboembolic disease understand the diagnostic strategies used to identify patients in need of anticoagulation be able to apply the ACCP guidelines for early anticoagulation integrate the value of diagnostic testing with therapy in patients with suspected deep vein thrombosis
- Apply specific Doppler criteria in the diagnosis of peripheral arterial disease
- Apply ultrasound to the diagnosis and monitoring of abdominal aortic aneurysms
- Describe the appropriate use of thrombin for the treatment of pseudo-aneurysms
- Define the role of ultrasound in the follow up to bypass surgery and stent placement
- Identify and characterize renal artery stenosis
- Integrate vascular ultrasound to the evaluation of the abdominal vessels
- Define the role of Doppler ultrasound in gynecological applications
- Achieve improved patient outcomes through vascular ultrasound practice
