MEETING DESCRIPTION:
Goals and Objectives
After attending the Chest Imaging Symposium, participants will be able to:
1. Implement strategies for the CT assessment and follow up of indeterminate solitary pulmonary nodules, recognize those imaging features that suggest malignancy and recommend appropriate management
2. Identify the diverse imaging features of primary lung cancer and apply the 2009 revisions to the TNM lung cancer staging system to the imaging evaluation of affected patients and to consultation with referring physicians
3. Describe the basic principles of HRCT interpretation
4. Formulate reasonable differential diagnoses for common HRCT abnormalities and recognize characteristic CT features of the idiopathic interstitial pneumonias
5. List common airway diseases and implement optimal imaging strategies for the evaluation of the abnormal airways
6. Refine the formulation of an appropriate differential diagnosis based on a better understanding of basic signs in chest radiology, and identification of key imaging features of pulmonary infections, mediastinal masses and diseases of the pleura
7. Identify those lung lesions that are most suited to percutaneous image guided biopsy or treatment.
Three months after completion of the Chest Imaging Symposium, participants will be able to:
1. Test their knowledge by reviewing new cases that highlight some of the principles taught in the course
2. Join a community of learners interested in thoracic imaging and discuss barriers encountered while trying to implement newly acquired knowledge and techniques to daily practice
3. Generate specific questions to the course faculty regarding the content of the course
