Event Description

Breast ultrasound is the leading complementary modality for breast cancer detection, diagnosis and treatment planning.  This course is specifically designed for Mammographers who are adding the performance of breast sonography to their toolbox in keeping with women’s health initiatives.  This introduction to breast ultrasound for mammographers covers the “how to” of breast sonography.  Basic scanning principles and techniques are discussed in addition to instrumentation and image optimization.  Live demonstration of scanning techniques and/or case study demonstrations will round out this course. Participants should have basic understanding of breast anatomy and the basic concepts of mammography. This introductory course gives the mammographer or a sonographer cross training into breast scanning the knowledge and tools needed to be successful in saving lives with breast sonography.
