At the completion of the program the participant should be able to:
1. Identify sonographic characteristics associated with hepatobiliary disease, pancreatic pathology, renal disease, and fluid localization.
2. Explain the role of ultrasound for extended applications (including but not limited to) pneumothorax, ocular and musculoskeletal procedures in the emergency department.
3. Demonstrate the use of ultrasound guidance for vascular access.
4. Explain imaging techniques and routine scan planes used in cardiac ultrasound.
5. Recognize normal cardiac structures & identify ultrasound findings associated with cardiomyopathy, pericardial effusion, cardiogenic shock, dissection & other hypotensive conditions.
6. Discuss imaging techniques, normal and abnormal characteristics associated with lower extremity venous examinations.
7. Explain normal sonographic findings and commonly seen abnormalities associated with testicular ultrasound.
8. Perform testicular ultrasound exam.
9. Describe scanning techniques used in foreign body localization.
10. Increase knowledge and confidence to perform and/or interpret examinations.
