Event Description

Diagnostic ultrasound has now evolved to become the most cost effective and efficient procedure in the arsenal of diagnostic imaging procedures. With the rising costs of health care, it is a matter of necessity to utilize cost effective, rapid and accurate ways to diagnose and treat patients at the “point of care”. This course will address emerging applications of emergency medicine ultrasound and will benefit those practioners with prior experience in ultrasound.

The power and size of the new portable ultrasound equipment has expanded the application of bedside ultrasound from advanced cardiac evaluation and pulmonary applications, to ultrasound guided treatments and interventions. Emphasis will be placed on acquisitions of the knowledge and scanning skills needed for vascular access techniques, evaluation of DVT’s and integration of  point-of-care echocardiography into symptom based evaluation of the patient.
