ABR MOC (American Board of Radiology Maintenance of Certification) for Diagnostic Radiology (DR) Specialties

MOC (maintenance of certification) is for diplomates who are already ABR-certified, and who are working in the 10-year cycle of maintaining that certification.

Diplomates who hold TIME-LIMITED (10-year) certificates are automatically enrolled in the MOC program and should start participating immediately.

Diplomates who hold LIFETIME CERTIFICATES must enroll in the program to begin the MOC process. Click here for more information.

WHY SHOULD YOU MAINTAIN YOUR CERTIFICATION?


Maintenance of Certification is an integral part of the quality movement in healthcare. Patients, your physician peers and your colleagues all value MOC because it demonstrates your support for continuous quality improvement, professional development and quality patient care.

You must develop and maintain your MOC program throughout your professional career.

The MOC program evaluates SIX ESSENTIAL COMPETENCIES on a continuous basis:

medical knowledge
patient care
interpersonal and communication skills
professionalism
practice-based learning and improvement
systems-based practice


MOC utilizes FOUR COMPONENTS to evaluate the six competencies:

One: evidence of professional standing
Two: lifelong learning and self-assessment
Three: cognitive expertise
Four: practice quality improvement
