MEETING DESCRIPTION:
Course Description: Kenneth M. Earle, MD, former Chair, Department of Neuropathology, initiated a course designed to prepare pathologists, neurologists, and neurosurgeons for specialty board certification. This is the 48th iteration, which is dedicated to his memory. The five-day course will proivide a comprehensivereview of neuropathology for individuals interested in the neurosciences and pathology. Lectures will be illustrated by gross and microscopic photographs using PowerPoint presentations, and will be supplemented by a course sylllabus on CD.
Course Objectives:
Participants in this course will benefit by gaining:
- Enchanced knowledge of the pathology and recent developments in the pathophysiology
of common and unique disorders of the central and peripheral nervous systems and
skeletal muscle.
- Familiarization with recently recognized pathologic processes related to the central
and peripheral nervous systems and skeletal muscle.
- Improved understadning of basic histopathologic, histochemical, immunohistochemical,
and ultrastructural features of disorders of the central and peripheral nervous
systems and skeletal muscle.
- Insight into clinical, radiologic and pathologic correlations, and prognostic factors
of central nervous system lesions.
