Event Description

16th Annual Mammography In Santa Fe
August 8 - 12

COURSE DESCRIPTION:

This course is designed for radiologists who find themselves challenged by the new practical issues of performing successful high-quality breast imaging in a changing medical environment. This year, we will again focus on perceptive skills involved in screening. An interactive all-digital screening workshop in which participants will evaluate 100 digital screening cases is one of the highlights All workshop participants will have the opportunity to review all cases at the workstation with a faculty member. Upon completion of the workshop, they will receive a certificate verifying that they interpreted 100 digital mammograms under supervision, acceptable toward fulfillment of their MQSA requirement.

Participants can also review 10-20 Breast MRI unknown cases at the workstation, with these cases being discussed and answers reviewed during the Breast MRI Mini-Course.

This year, the Breast MRI Mini-Course is expanding to two days, with the second day focusing on more advanced topics, as well as an extensive interactive review featuring projection of MRI cases real-time from the workstation.

The extremely popular and successful hands-on workshops teaching stereotactic, ultrasound-guided, and MR needle biopsy techniques and featuring the latest equipment from a wide spectrum of vendors will again be offered.

This year, in response to the continuing demand for a formal "Question and Answer" session, we are expanding the meeting by an extra day. On Friday morning, the entire session will be entitled, "Breakfast with the Faculty", and will be devoted completely to faculty responses to attendees' questions. One will even be able to submit questions AND/OR CASES to be posed to the faculty when enrolling for the meeting!

EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES:
By the end of this course, registrants will be able to:
• Apply new and improved skills in perception to the interpretation of screening mammograms.
• Gain a greater appreciation of the importance of meticulous perception techniques in the detection of subtle early breast cancer.

• Perform a more comprehensive evaluation of screening-detected abnormalities, including appropriate use of special views, ultrasound, MR, and other modalities.
