Lung cancer caused by smoking is one of the major causes of death around the world. Most people who get lung cancer usually do not survive, and more than 5 million people die each year from tobacco use - many of them in developing countries.
Now, a study in the United States shows that screening smokers using CT scans, instead of traditional chest X-rays, can help reduce lung cancer deaths. VOA's Deborah Block has the story.
