ED utilization of CT and MRI rises in last decade

(DIAGNOSTIC IMAGING) -- Use of CT, MR for injury-related ED visits jumped in past decade





From 1998 to 2007, the use of CT or MRI scans in emergency departments for injury-related conditions increased about three-fold without a similar increase in the prevalence of the diagnosis of certain life-threatening trauma-related conditions, according to a study in the October 6 issue of The Journal of the American Medical Association.

VRC buys Nighthawk for $170 Million+

California New Radiation Law - Radiologists must now report dose

(DIAGNOSTIC IMAGING) -- California gets landmark radiologist dose reporting law California radiologists will be required to incorporate radiation dose levels in their reports under a measure signed into law Thursday by Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger. The measure requires that radiologists include in their reports the dose length product or the CT dose index if the machine is able to calculate it.
