SUMMARY:Vascular Ultrasound Interpretation
DESCRIPTION:\nNew! Case Log Provided!\nFor our St. Pete Beach, FL par
ticipants: Approximately 50-60 cases will be reviewed during this cou
rse. Participants will be given a log of exams read. The case load wil
l help if preparing to take the RPVI exam. The narrative and interacti
ve sessions will strengthen interpretation skills, assist in qualifyin
g for credentialing/reading privileges and help meet ICAVL lab accredi
tation requirements.\nFree Lunch Workshops\nFirst Day: Dialysis Acces
s Graft EvaluationSecond Day: Renal Artery DopplerWorkshops include b
ox lunch.\nAt the completion of this program, the participant should b
e able to:\n\nDiscuss Doppler/Color physics, factors affecting optimal
Doppler examinations and commonly seen Doppler/Color artifacts, which
may affect diagnostic accuracy.\nExplain routine scan protocols and a
nalyze normal spectral waveform signatures, color characteristics, and
Doppler measurements in a normal carotid and peripheral vascular exam
inations.\nRecognize abnormal spectral Doppler and Color Doppler findi
ngs seen with carotid and peripheral arterial and venous disease.\nDis
cuss the role of indirect testing in the evaluation of lower extremity
arterial disease.\nApply diagnostic criteria for evaluation of caroti
d, peripheral venous and arterial disease.\nReview complex carotid and
peripheral vascular case studies in interactive interpretation sessio
n format.\nDescribe ultrasound findings associated with aortic endogra
ft leaks.\nDescribe normal and abnormal spectral Doppler characteristi
cs and diagnostic criteria associated with renal artery evaluation and
dialysis access graft evaluation.\nIncrease knowledge and confidence
to perform and/or interpret vascular ultrasound examinations.\nApply t
he information discussed in a clinical setting, ideally under supervis
ed conditions until an acceptable level of proficiency has been achiev
 ed.\n\nCourse Topics:\n\nDoppler color overview/diagnostic pitfalls\nN
 ormal waveforms/scan protocol\nIMT assessment\nOverview of abnormal wa
veform - characteristics and diagnostic criteria\nHow to structure a r
eport\nLunch Session: Dialysis Access Graft Evaluation\nComplex cases
 studies\nInterpretation sessions, interactive format\nIndirect testing
overview and case studies\nLunch Session: Renal Artery Evaluation\nLo
wer extremity arterial duplex\nArterial interpretation sessions, narra
tive and interactive (combination of indirect and duplex cases)\nU/S e
valuation post intervention\nAortic endograft evaluation\nVenous patho
logy overview/cases\nHands-on sessions\n\n* Gulfcoast Ultrasound Insti
