SUMMARY:Vascular Ultrasound Interpretation, December 2011
DESCRIPTION:New! Case Log Provided!\nFor our St. Pete Beach, FL partic
ipants: Approximately 50-60 cases will be reviewed during this course.
Participants will be given a log of exams read. The case load will he
lp if preparing to take the RPVI exam. The narrative and interactive s
essions will strengthen interpretation skills, assist in qualifying fo
r credentialing/reading privileges and help meet ICAVL lab accreditati
on requirements.\nFree Lunch Workshops\nFirst Day: Dialysis Access Gra
ft EvaluationSecond Day: Renal Artery DopplerWorkshops include box lun
ch.\nAt the completion of this program, the participant should be able
to:\n\nDiscuss Doppler/Color physics, factors affecting optimal Doppl
er examinations and commonly seen Doppler/Color artifacts, which may a
ffect diagnostic accuracy.\nExplain routine scan protocols and analyze
normal spectral waveform signatures, color characteristics, and Doppl
er measurements in a normal carotid and peripheral vascular examinatio
ns.\nRecognize abnormal spectral Doppler and Color Doppler findings se
en with carotid and peripheral arterial and venous disease.\nDiscuss t
he role of indirect testing in the evaluation of lower extremity arter
ial disease.\nApply diagnostic criteria for evaluation of carotid, per
ipheral venous and arterial disease.\nReview complex carotid and perip
heral vascular case studies in interactive interpretation session form
at.\nDescribe ultrasound findings associated with aortic endograft lea
ks.\nDescribe normal and abnormal spectral Doppler characteristics and
diagnostic criteria associated with renal artery evaluation and dialy
sis access graft evaluation.\nIncrease knowledge and confidence to per
form and/or interpret vascular ultrasound examinations.\nApply the inf
ormation discussed in a clinical setting, ideally under supervised con
ditions until an acceptable level of proficiency has been achieved.\n\
 nCourse Topics:\n\nDoppler color overview/diagnostic pitfalls\nNormal
 waveforms/scan protocol\nIMT assessment\nOverview of abnormal waveform
  - characteristics and diagnostic criteria\nHow to structure a report\
nLunch Session: Dialysis Access Graft Evaluation\nComplex cases studie
s\nInterpretation sessions, interactive format\nIndirect testing overv
iew and case studies\nLunch Session: Renal Artery Evaluation\nLower ex
tremity arterial duplex\nArterial interpretation sessions, narrative a
