ister if less than or equal to 7 days from course date.\n\nObjectives
& Topics\nAt the completion of this program, the participant should be
able to:\n\n1. Discuss Doppler/Color physics, factors affecting optim
al Doppler examinations and commonly seen Doppler/Color artifacts, whi
ch may affect diagnostic accuracy.\n2. Explain routine scan protocols
and analyze normal spectral waveform signatures, color characteristics
, and Doppler measurements in a normal carotid and peripheral vascular
examinations.\n3. Recognize abnormal spectral Doppler and Color Doppl
er findings seen with carotid and peripheral arterial and venous disea
se.\n4. Discuss the role of indirect testing in the evaluation of lowe
r extremity arterial disease.\n5. Apply diagnostic criteria for evalua
tion of carotid, peripheral venous and arterial disease.\n6. Review co
mplex carotid and peripheral vascular case studies in interactive inte
rpretation session format.\n7. Describe ultrasound findings associated
with aortic endograft leaks.\n8. Describe normal and abnormal spectra
l Doppler characteristics and diagnostic criteria associated with rena
l artery evaluation and dialysis access graft evaluation.\n9. Increase
knowledge and confidence to perform and/or interpret vascular ultraso
und examinations.\n10. Apply the information discussed in a clinical s
etting, ideally under supervised conditions until an acceptable level
of proficiency has been achieved.\n\nCourse Topics:\n\n• Doppler col
 or overview/diagnostic pitfalls\n• Normal waveforms/scan protocol\nâ
€¢ IMT assessment\n• Overview of abnormal waveform - characteristics
and diagnostic criteria\n• How to structure a report\n• Lunch Ses

s, narrative and interactive (combination of indirect and duplex cases
)\n• U/S evaluation post intervention\n• Aortic endograft evaluati
on\n• Venous pathology overview/cases\n\nFaculty\nRobert Atnip, MD,

al Services and Vascular Resource Associates\n\nDennis Bandyk, MD\nPro
 fessor of Surgery\n\nTarget Audience\nPhysicians with a minimum of 6 m
onths experience interpreting carotid and peripheral vascular duplex/c
olor examinations. Physician participants may include (but are not lim
ited to) those involved with internal medicine, cardiology, radiology,
and general/vascular surgery. Sonographers who are proficient at perf
orming vascular duplex/color examinations may also attend this program
. Those w/o experience and who have attended GUI’s carotid and PV co
urses may inquire about attending.\n\nCME Credit Statements\nThe Gulfc
oast Ultrasound Institute is accredited by the Accreditation Council f
or Continuing Medical Education to provide continuing medical educatio
n for physicians.\n\nThe Gulfcoast Ultrasound Institute designates thi
s educational activity for a maximum of 17.0 AMA PRA Category 1 CME Cr
