 has progressed over the years to become much more than a screening too
 l. From its early beginnings of grainy black and white two dimensional
  images, to the addition of Doppler and color flow, it has become the 
 modality of choice for early detection of peripheral arterial, cerebro
 vascular, and venous disease. For the detection of DVT and venous refl
 ux, duplex testing is now the gold standard other modalities are compa
 red to. Accurate diagnostic testing of the vascular system requires a 
 comprehensive understanding of anatomy and hemodynamics as well as the
  various pathological conditions that can present. Multiple variables 
 such as cardiac output, dehydration, and infection can all have an imp
 act on the vascular system. This five day seminar provides a comprehen
 sive overview of physics and instrumentation, anatomy and hemodynamics
 , and diagnostic criteria suitable for anyone from an experienced sono
 grapher to the beginner. For the physician wanting a more thorough und
 erstanding of the capabilities and potential of the vascular lab, alon
 g with interpretative criteria, our extensive library of case studies 
 will prove invaluable. Our scan lab and state of the art equipment, al
 ong with our low student instructor ratios allow you plenty of time to
  perfect your protocol, and acquire the scanning experience necessary 
 to perform diagnostic vascular exams. Objectives At the completion of 
 this course, the learner will be able to: • Correctly identify vesse
 l anatomy and orientation in a vascular ultrasound examination. • Id
 entify the variations in instrumentation and Doppler principles and th
 e effects in scanning parameters. • Describe the flow characteristic
 s and the manifestations of disease processes. • Discuss QA of the p
 rocedure and equipment. • Analyze the results of a vascular exam for
  pathological conditions and in certain cases, quantify the diseases.

 ourse Topics Day one of this five day seminar starts with an overview 
 of the physical principles of ultrasound including Doppler and color f
 low, followed by a comprehensive review of the ultrasound platform con
 trols enabling you to optimize your system for even the most difficult
  patient. After lunch you will be introduced to our scan lab with stat
 e of the art equipment platforms and low student instructor ratios whe
 re you will learn the specific controls for each of the platforms on t
 he floor, basic scanning techniques, and patient positioning. Day two 
 starts carotid duplex testing. This includes anatomy, hemodynamics, di
 agnostic criteria, case studies, pearls and pitfalls, as well as stand
 ardized reporting. After lunch you will again be in the scan lab worki
 ng on protocols, technique, and documentation of your studies. Day thr
 ee starts arterial duplex testing. Again anatomy, hemodynamics, and di
 agnostic criteria will be covered as well as case studies, pearls and 
 pitfalls, and standardized reporting. After lunch it’s back to the s
 can lab to continue work on protocols, technique, and documentation.\n
