 0\n\nMEETING DESCRIPTION:\nVascular Ultrasound Vascular ultrasound has
  progressed over the years to become much more than a screening tool. 
 From its early beginnings of grainy black and white two dimensional im
 ages, to the addition of Doppler and color flow, it has become the mod
 ality of choice for early detection of peripheral arterial, cerebrovas
 cular, and venous disease. For the detection of DVT and venous reflux,
  duplex testing is now the gold standard other modalities are compared
  to. Accurate diagnostic testing of the vascular system requires a com
 prehensive understanding of anatomy and hemodynamics as well as the va
 rious pathological conditions that can present. Multiple variables suc
 h as cardiac output, dehydration, and infection can all have an impact
  on the vascular system. This five day seminar provides a comprehensiv
 e overview of physics and instrumentation, anatomy and hemodynamics, a
 nd diagnostic criteria suitable for anyone from an experienced sonogra
 pher to the beginner. For the physician wanting a more thorough unders
 tanding of the capabilities and potential of the vascular lab, along w
 ith interpretative criteria, our extensive library of case studies wil
 l prove invaluable. Our scan lab and state of the art equipment, along
  with our low student instructor ratios allow you plenty of time to pe
 rfect your protocol, and acquire the scanning experience necessary to 
 perform diagnostic vascular exams. Objectives At the completion of thi
 s course, the learner will be able to: • Correctly identify vessel a
 natomy and orientation in a vascular ultrasound examination. • Ident
 ify the variations in instrumentation and Doppler principles and the e
 ffects in scanning parameters. • Describe the flow characteristics a
 nd the manifestations of disease processes. • Discuss QA of the proc
 edure and equipment. • Analyze the results of a vascular exam for pa
 thological conditions and in certain cases, quantify the diseases. •
  Identify additional resource information on vascular ultrasound. Cour
 se Topics Day one of this five day seminar starts with an overview of 
 the physical principles of ultrasound including Doppler and color flow
 , followed by a comprehensive review of the ultrasound platform contro
 ls enabling you to optimize your system for even the most difficult pa
 tient. After lunch you will be introduced to our scan lab with state o
 f the art equipment platforms and low student instructor ratios where 
 you will learn the specific controls for each of the platforms on the 
 floor, basic scanning techniques, and patient positioning. Day two sta
 rts carotid duplex testing. This includes anatomy, hemodynamics, diagn
 ostic criteria, case studies, pearls and pitfalls, as well as standard
 ized reporting. After lunch you will again be in the scan lab working 
 on protocols, technique, and documentation of your studies. Day three 
 starts arterial duplex testing. Again anatomy, hemodynamics, and diagn
 ostic criteria will be covered as well as case studies, pearls and pit
 falls, and standardized reporting. After lunch it’s back to the scan
  lab to continue working on protocols, technique, and documentation of
