DESCRIPTION:The amount of radiation that people are receiving from med
 ical sources is increasing, and this includes children.  Film-screen 
 receptors have narrow latitude and fixed speed whereas digital recepto
 rs have a wide latitude and variable speed.  Digital imaging provides
  a flexible system that can easily result in overexposures to the pati
 ent without the operators’ knowledge.  As professionals in medical 
 imaging we are accountable to our patients and must adhere to radiatio
 ns safety practices that provide optimal care with the least amount of
  radiation, and comply with regulatory requirements. You will learn ho
 w inappropriate applications of image processing can cause an artifact
 ual appearance of anatomy resulting in a misdiagnosis.  This class is
  designed for the imaging professional to give you a complete understa
 nding of digital radiography and how to minimize the possibility of ov
 erexposures and inconsistent results. The Image Gently Campaign is an
