eletal Ultrasound Course and Hands on Workshop. The UCLA Department of
Radiology in collaboration with key physicians from both UCLA Departm
ents of Sports Medicine and Rheumatology, recognize the demand for thi
s speciality skill and are proud to offer a fully comprehensive, hands
on, learning opportunity. The MSK Ultrasound Course and Workshop, dis
cuss in depth, the pertinent theoretical and practical points of upper
and lower extremity ultrasound. The course entails a comprehensive ov
erview of ultrasound topographic upper and lower extremity anatomy, in
cluding relevant landmarks, common indication for MSK ultrasound and t
he fundamental techniques for its use. The course also includes live s
plit screen demonstrations which present the basic MSK sonography tech
niques and the optimal imaging essential for accurate application. The
inclusive interactive, hands-ons workshop provides an opportunity to
master the techniques through small group training with specialists. L
earning Objectives: Review of anatomy and basic techniques. Identify t
he strengths and weaknesses of MSK ultrasound. Understand both the uni
que and complementary roles of ultrsound examination. Discuss cases wh
ich most likely benefit from the attributes of ultrasound. Become fami
liar with anatomic landmarks and specific maneuvers for a variety of a
natomic regions. Understand equipment selection, including machines an
d probes. Describe normal and abnormal findings on ultrasound and to b
e able to recognize MSK-specific pitfalls and artifacts. Recognize the
dynamic and interactive properties of an ultrasound examination. In a
n effort to expand on last year's request for additional speciality tr
aining, the Interventional Cadaver Lab option is now available. This i
s ideal in providing real life, real time training of image guided pro
cedures to expand the clinical scope of care for attendees. Early regi
stration for the optional cadaver lab is recommended, enrollment is li
mited to 24 participants. There is an additional fee for this workshop
