n\nTutorials in Diagnostic Radiology is a postgraduate course designed
to update the diagnostic radiologist on new trends, relevant techniqu
es and applications in diagnostic imaging. The latest advances are emp
hasized and related to common problems encountered in clinical practic
 e. Attendees have an opportunity to participate in an American Board o
f Radiology Self-Assessment Module (SAM). The Advanced Radiology Life
Support (ARLS) course focuses on unique, life-threatening emergencies
that occur within a radiology department. It teaches prompt recognitio
n and treatment of contrast reactions. The ARLS course discusses manag
ement of the sedated patient and proper management of an airway in an
emergency situation. The administration of contrast in patients with r
enal insufficiency, including contrast-induced nephropathy and nephrog
enic systemic fibrosis, are discussed. Basic concepts of advanced life
support will also be reviewed. This course is fashioned after the Adv
anced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) course that has been successfully te
aching physicians, nurses, and allied health personnel patient managem
ent during cardiac arrest. The course will offer American Heart Associ
ation Basic Life Support (BLS) recertification training materials. The
ARLS and sedation materials included in this course were used to trai
n physicians, nurses, and allied health personnel at the Mayo Clinic t
o meet Joint Commission Standards or to prepare for Joint Commission s
ite visits. This training program may help to prepare your program for
similar evaluations. In addition, attendees may participate in two se
lf-assessment modules (SAMs) during the course. The self-assessment mo
dules have been designed to meet the standards of the American Board o
f Radiology (ABR) for self-assessment modules (SAMs).\n\nFor more info
