SUMMARY:Stereotactic Breast Biopsy Training
DESCRIPTION:Stereotactic Breast Biopsy Training\nFeb 11-13, 11\nMilwau
 kee, WI\n\nAn Intensive 2 1/2 Day Training Program\n\nCourse Overview\
n\nStereotactic breast biopsy is used to obtain pathologic information
from mammographic areas of suspicion. When a mass, microcalcification
s, or area of abnormal tissue change exist; stereotactic breast biopsy
offers a minimally invasive alternative to open surgical biopsy often
before a mass develops. This course offers the\nattendee the opportun
ity to learn the basics, as well as the tricks of the trade, from an e
xperienced technologist with multi-vendor competence. MTMI and\nour in
structors are excited and willing to share this knowledge to help brid
ge the gaps in training so that intelligent performance becomes your d
aily mode of operation. Supervised simulation and hands-on training wi
th phantoms, live-models, and biopsy devices make this course refreshi
ngly unique. Critical thinking becomes possible once attendees develop
an understanding of why and how these procedures are done rather than
“this is how we have always done it”. In addition to covering qua
lity assurance and patient documentation, the two and a half day cours
e reviews the ACR accreditation requirements and fulfills the credits
required for accreditation.\n\nCourse Objectives\nAt the completion of
this course,\nparticipants will be able to:\n\n• Explain when stere
otactic biopsy is preferred over other biopsy options.\n• Identify v
endors and recognize the products currently available.\n• Discuss co
mplete patient workup prior\n• to the procedure.\n• Position a pat
ient properly for\n• stereotactic biopsy.\n• Demonstrate how to pr
operly target a lesion.\n• Formulate problem solving skills when fac
ed with difficult situation scenarios.\n• Simulate biopsy procedures
start to finish\n• to include room setup, tray setup, infection con
trol and biopsy device setup through execution of phantom sample.\n•
Discuss the importance of QA and ACR requirements.\n\nFaculty\n\nJudy
  Chavez, RT(R)(M)(BS)\nJeanne Koshick, BA, RT(R)(M), CDT\nAngie Stormo
en, RT(R)(M)\nMary Henne, MS, CNMT, RDMS, RVT\n\nWho Should Attend\n\n
This course is useful for professionals involved in women’s imaging
services including radiologic technologists, mammographers, sonographe
rs, breast biopsy coordinators, breast health clinicians, nurses and m
 edical imaging managers.\n\nCourse Credit\n\nThis course provides 18.5
Category A credits approved by the ARRT. A certificate of attendance
will be provided for each individual upon completion of the course. Al
l attendees must attend the entire course to receive full credit. Cred
it from various licensure states has also been applied for.\n\nThese c
redits apply towards\nyour MQSA requirements.\n\nFor more information
