 Target Audience\n\nThe target audience for this program will be radiol
 ogists both in academic and private practice seeking to increase their
  skills in musculoskeletal radiology as well as orthopaedists and phys
 ical medicine and rehabilitation practitioners interested in learning 
 how imaging can best be incorporated into their practice. This course 
 is also appropriate for trainees in the same areas.\n\nCourse Purpose\
 n\nThe Sports Medicine Imaging State of the Art course offers a compre
 hensive and intensive 3 day program in musculoskeletal radiology. Ther
 e has been tremendous growth in the field of radiology and in the area
  of musculoskeletal imaging in particular, making it mandatory for rad
 iologists, both in academic and private practice settings, to continua
 lly update their skills and complement their knowledge base. These adv
 ances have raised the bar for radiologists everywhere and changed the 
 standard of care. Maintenance of certification also requires radiologi
 sts to stay current with new advances in the field.\n\nWith the growth
  of radiology and the increasing importance it plays both in the diagn
 osis and treatment of diseases in the musculoskeletal system it has al
 so become imperative for practicing orthopedists and practitioners of 
 physical medicine and rehabilitation to have a basic understanding of 
 imaging and how it can best be used in service of the patient.\n\nCour
 se Description\n\nThis program will offer a unique and innovative prog
 ram in sports related injuries which is organized by body part and inc
 ludes a review of relevant anatomy in each area. We will incorporate b
 oth anatomic dissections by respected members of the NYU orthopedic fa
 culty as well as high level imaging performed on our state of the art 
 facilities and described by the dedicated musculoskeletal radiology fa
 culty. A discussion of relevant sports related pathology will then ens
 ue including the orthopedists perspective on how imaging is best incor
 porated in their everyday practice and decision making. All of the maj
 or joints will be covered in this comprehensive fashion with additiona
 l sessions dedicated to the latest technical advances in musculoskelet
 al MRI in general and in the imaging of articular cartilage in particu
 lar. Other current and relevant topics to be covered will include femo
 roacetabular impingement in the young adult, the post-operative patien
 t, athletic pubalgia/sports hernias and sports related spine injuries.
