 afety in Imaging Today (4 hr)\nThis four-hour course will provide vita
 l radiation safety information to both the technologist and nontechnol
 ogist performing examinations in healthcare facilities today. Topics c
 overed will include basic radiation safety, the role of the radiation 
 safety program and the effects of ionizing radiation. Also covered wil
 l be radiation detection and personal protection methods related to io
 nizing radiation. This course is an excellent option for the registere
 d technologist to refresh their knowledge of radiation safety in a min
 imal amount of time. This course can also be used to provide required 
 radiation safety training for the nontechnologist performing Bone Dens
 itometry measurements in a hardship exempted setting. This four-hour r
 adiation safety module meets the Texas Department of State Health Serv
