  radiation safety information to both the technologist and nontechnolo
 gist performing examinations in healthcare facilities today. Topics co
 vered will include basic radiation safety, the role of the radiation s
 afety program and the effects of ionizing radiation. Also covered will
  be radiation detection and personal protection methods related to ion
 izing radiation. This course is an excellent option for the registered
  technologist to refresh their knowledge of radiation safety in a mini
 mal amount of time. This course can be used to provide required radiat
 ion safety training for the nontechnologist performing Bone Densitomet
 ry measurements in the state of Texas. Also, the new Texas rules requi
 re Noncertified Technicians (NCTs) to complete 6-hours of continuing e
 ducation every two years. This course will meet four of the six requir
 ed hours of continuing education as required by the Texas Department o
