SUMMARY:Radiation Safety in Imaging Today
DESCRIPTION:This four-hour course will provide vital radiation safety 
 information to both the technologist and non-technologist performing e
 xaminations in healthcare facilities today. Topics covered will includ
 e basic radiation safety, the role of the radiation safety program and
  the effects of ionizing radiation. Also covered will be radiation det
 ection and personal protection methods related to ionizing radiation. 
 This course is an excellent option for the registered technologist to 
 refresh their knowledge of radiation safety in a minimal amount of tim
 e. This course can be used to provide required radiation safety traini
 ng for the non-technologist performing bone densitometry measurements 
 in the state of Texas. Also, the new Texas rules require Non-Certified
  Technicians (NCTs) to complete 6-hours of continuing education every 
 two years. This course will meet four of the six required hours of con
 tinuing education as required by the Texas Department of State Health
