 DESCRIPTION:\nRadiation Safety in Imaging Today (4 hour course) This f
 our-hour course will provide vital radiation safety information to bot
 h the technologist and nontechnologist performing examinations in heal
 thcare facilities today. Topics covered will include basic radiation s
 afety, the role of the radiation safety program and the effects of ion
 izing radiation. Also covered will be radiation detection and personal
  protection methods related to ionizing radiation. This course is an e
 xcellent option for the registered technologist to refresh their knowl
 edge of radiation safety in a minimal amount of time. This course can 
 be used to provide required radiation safety training for the nontechn
 ologist performing Bone Densitometry measurements in the state of Texa
 s. Also, the new Texas rules require Noncertified Technicians (NCTs) t
 o complete 6-hours of continuing education every two years. This cours
 e will meet four of the six required hours of continuing education as 
 required by the Texas Department of State Health Services. Course Topi
