Topics covered will include basic radiation safe ty, the role of the radiation safety program and the effects of ionizi ng radiation. Also covered will be radiation detection and personal pr otection methods related to ionizing radiation. This course is an exce llent option for the registered technologist to refresh their knowledg e of radiation safety in a minimal amount of time. This course can be used to provide required radiation safety training for the nontechnolo gist performing Bone Densitometry measurements in the state of Texas. Also, the new Texas rules require Noncertified Technicians (NCTs) to c omplete 6-hours of continuing education every two years. This course w ill meet four of the six required hours of continuing education as req uired by the Texas Department of State Health Services.
