Topics covered will include basic radiation saf ety, the role of the radiation safety program and the effects of ioniz ing radiation. Also covered will be radiation detection and personal p rotection methods related to ionizing radiation. This course is an exc ellent option for the registered technologist to refresh their knowled ge of radiation safety in a minimal amount of time. This course can be used to provide required radiation safety training for the nontechnol ogist performing Bone Densitometry measurements in the state of Texas. Also, the new Texas rules require Noncertified Technicians (NCTs) to complete 6-hours of continuing education every two years. This course will meet four of the six required hours of continuing education as re quired by the Texas Department of State Health Services.
