DESCRIPTION:Target Audience: All registered sonographers, student sono
 graphers, and radiologic technologists who desire entry level training
  with vascular ultrasound.\n \nOverall goal of activity: To enhance t
 he knowledge and skills in the areas of vascular technology, sonograph
 ic principles and instrumention, and other topics related to sonograph
 y\n \nDescription: - This course focuses on the technical aspects of 
 ultrasound assessment of extremity venous system including diagnosis o
 f venous thrombosis, venous insufficiency and non-vascular pathology f
 ound during venous examination. Topics will include an introduction to
  ultrasound physics and its specific application to venous hemodynamic
 s, anatomy of lower and upper extremity venous systems, mechanisms of 
 disease, pitfalls of venous duplex, and scanning tips. \n \nUpon com
 pletion of this course, the participant will be able to:\n\nDescribe g
 eneral Doppler physics principles associated with peripheral venous he
 modynamics\nIdentify the difference between normal and abnormal venous
  imaging spectral analysis\nDescribe the anatomy encountered during a 
 venous duplex imaging examination\nExplain the signs and symptoms asso
 ciated with venous disease\nIdentify the ultrasound appearance of norm
 al venous anatomy and blood flow.\nDemonstrate optimal scanning techni
 ques and proficiency in “knobology” through application of Doppler
  principles\nDescribed the characteristics of the venous Doppler signa
 ls obtained during venous duplex imaging\nDefine and become familiar w
 ith different venous disease states.\n\nApproved for up to 24 SDMS CME
