ted toward the OB Ultrasound examination and sonographic evaluation of
the gravid and non-gravid pelvis. With the utilization of both transa
bdominal and endovaginal approaches, the transducer can become an exte
nsion of the clinical examiation in the OB/Gyn healthcare setting. Adv
anced Health Education Center's training model for skills classes prov
ides a systematic approach of presenting an overview of the instrument
ation and physics related to ultrasound. Classroom presentation and ha
nd-on scanning will be used to develop a foundation of knowledge relat
ed to normal maternal and feal anatomy. The course will then progress
on to the performance of fetal measurements and the ultrasound appeara
nce of fetal anomalies are included. Also included will be a review of
case studies related to common pathologies. A variety of ultrasound e
quipment is available in the scan lab to allow for development of skil
ls and appropriate scan protocols. Objectives\nAt the completion of th
is course, the learner will be able to:\n• Successfully complete the
OB/GYN ultrasound examinations following correct patient preparation
and procedure protocols.\n• Identify and display appropriate normal
anatomy and orientation in the ultrasound field of view.\n• Demonstr
ate a working knowledge of the importance of quality assurance in ultr
asound as described in the AIUM guidelines.\n• Understand variations
in scanning protocols for demonstration of pathologies in trans-abdom
inal examinations.\n• Be able to develop mapping techniques to appro
ach a variety of scanning situations.\n• Be able to identify sources
and research reference materials for additional information on OB/GYN
  ultrasound.\n\nCourse Topics\n• Physics and Instrumentation\n• Sc
an Protocols and Patient Preparation\n• Quality Assurance in Ultraso
