SCRIPTION:\nCourse Purpose\n\nThis program is designed to demonstrate
optimal diagnostic approaches to sports and non-sports-related musculo
skeletal disorders, based on arthroscopic and radiographic correlation
 s. The course will focus on optimal diagnostic approaches to gastroint
estinal disease and how to optimize interpretation of PET-CT images, M
RI of cardiovascular disease and gastrointestinal disease. Current top
ics such as the increasing uses of dual energy MDCT will be covered as
they relate to abdominal imaging and all talks will highlight protoco
ls that yield the best images at the lowest possible dose. Quality ima
ging issues in abdominal, cardiac,PET-CT and musculoskeletal imaging w
ill be addressed by incorporating up-to-date protocols and techniques.
\n\nEducational Objectives\n\n1. Diagnose musculoskeletal diseases, in
cluding marrow disorders. Diagnose osteoarthritis before morphological
changes take place by using advanced cartilage specific MR sequences
that are now available for clinical use including T2 mapping technique
ss.\n2. Given emerging technology, describe the value of using dual en
ergy MDCT on all patients as it relates to abdominal imaging.\n3. Desc
ribe patient preparation and performance of a standard cardiac MRI exa
mination, as well as discuss commonly used routine protocols.\n4. Base
d on advances in MR imaging criteria and PET imaging, effectively diag
nose a broad spectrum of musculoskeletal, cardiac, abdominal and oncol
ogic diseases.\n5. Apply the imaging techniques that will allow for ea
rly diagnoses of small pancreatic cancers that can be surgically treat
ed for a significant survival benefit.\n6. Incorporate up-to-date imag
ing protocols and techniques in order to address quality imaging issue
s in abdominal, cardiac, PET-CT and musculoskeletal imaging.\n\nINSTRU
CTORS:\nMoore, Morrison, Friedman, Lim, Megibow\n\nCME HOURS: not list
ed\n\nLECTURE TOPICS:\nBody Imaging, Cardiac, CT, GI, MRI, Musculoskel
etal, Nuclear Medicine, Ultrasound, Vascular\n\nACTIVITIES: not listed
