SUMMARY:MRI Training Course for Technologists
DESCRIPTION:MRI Training Course for Technologists\n\nJan31-Feb11, 11\n
Milwaukee, WI\n\nCourse Overview\n\nMRI promises to continue providing
new avenues of diagnostic imaging that will have a significant impact
on medicine.\nA knowledge of MRI technology will provide a basis for
growth and future opportunities for those trained in this modality.\n\
nYou should attend this course if you are a radiologic technologist or
if you have experience in the imaging sciences with basic or no previ
ous MR experience and are interested in learning the principles necess
ary to operate a MR imager.\n\nThis course would also prepare you for
the ARRT MRI Registry exam. It may be appropriate to attend the 2nd we
ek of the course alone if you have recent demonstrable experience and
are seeking an intermediate level course. A working knowledge of cross
-sectional anatomy is desirable for this course but is not required. N
on-ARRT registered individuals interested in this course must meet cer
tain prerequisites.\n\nCourse Objectives\n\nAt the completion of this
course,\nparticipants will be able to:\n\n• explain and review the b
asic principles of magnetic resonance imaging.\n• utilize appropriat
e MR pulse sequences in clinical imaging.\n• recognize and minimize
MRI artifacts.\n• incorporate current knowledge of\n• biological e
ffects and safety considerations when working in the MR environment.\n
 • describe techniques in manipulating MR parameters to optimize imag
e quality.\n• explain proper selection and usage of MR coils to opti
mize image quality.\n\nEducational Resources\n\nLecture sessions taugh
t by experienced MR instructors\nLibrary of MRI video tapes\nTraining
at local MRI clinical sites\n\nFaculty\n\nPaul Worthington, BS, RT(R)(
 MR)\nNils Anderson, RT(R)(MR)\nJ. Ed Barnes, Ph.D., FACR\nYu Liu, Ph.D
 .\n\nCourse Credit\n\nThis course provides 36 hours (1 week) or 72 hou
rs (2 weeks) of category A continuing education credit for the radiolo
gic technologists recognized by the ARRT and various licensure states.
A certificate of attendance will be provided for each individual upon
completion of this course. Attendees must attend the entire course to
receive full credit.\n\nExtended Clinical Training Program\n\nMTMI ha
s established an MRI Technologist On-site Clinical Training Program. T
his program is intended to follow the two (2) week formal training cou
rse for technologists offered by MTMI. Satisfactory completion of a co
mparable formal training course will be a prerequisite for participati
on. Various clinical training locations around Milwaukee, WI are arran
ged on an individual basis. Space is limited for this training. The co
st of this clinical training is $225 per day or $795 per week. (The ex
tended clinical training program is not designed to meet all the ARRT
Clinical Competency Requirements).\n\nRecommended Reading\n\nOn the fi
rst day of the course you will be given a course syllabus containing a
ll the course material.\nIn addition we recommend these books:\n\"How
Does MRI Work? An Introduction to the Physics and Function of Magnecti
 c Resonance Imaging\",\n\"Sectional Anatomy for Imaging Professionals\
", and\n\"MRI Parameters and Positioning\",\n\nFor more information vi
