SUMMARY:MRI THEORY
DESCRIPTION:Magnetic Resonance Imaging is one of the fastest evolving
and exciting fields in medical imaging. MRI has evolved to include car
diac MRI and functional MRI. You can be a part of this growing field w
ith didactic (classroom) training and practical clinical rotations. Th
e marriage of a solid theoretical background combined with clinical ex
perience is the preparation needed to enter this field. The practical
applications and clinical rotations are key ingredients to completing
the training. You can choose the right combination of events to match
your needs. The first component of training is theory, with weeks two
through four available for clinical rotations. Invest in your future a
nd advance your career.\nCourse Topics Week 1 – Theory (total 32 hou
rs)\n\n20 hours fundamentals of image formation, instrumentation, safe
ty, physics of NMR\n12 hours basic pulse sequences, protocols, image a
 nalysis\nCE credit 32 hours\n\nWeeks 2, 3, 4 – Clinical Rotation Tec
hnologists enrolling in clinical rotations are required to complete th
e theory portion of the fellowship course prior to being allowed to at
tend clinical rotations. 40 hours of clinical rotations (Monday-Friday
) each week will give the fellowship technologist the opportunity to e
xperience a wide array of exams, be tutored by experienced MR professi
onals who provide insights, advice, and help you get the most out of y
our training.\nCertificate of completion awarded reflecting clinical h
ours completed.\n**NO CE credit is awarded for clinical hours\nThis c
oncentrated 4-week modular course is designed to introduce many aspect
s of MRI operation in a practical format focused to promote understand
ing of concepts integrated with “hands on experience”. Course topi
cs include computer operation, technical aspects of MR imaging, fundam
ental evaluation of cross-sectional anatomy, and image formation. The
learning process is monitored and continuous.\nDue to the vast amount
of information course attendees must process; homework and or reading
may be assigned each day. AHEC strives to provide the highest quality
of continuing education and training in a setting that promotes learni
ng.\nRequired Textbooks\n\nMRI in Practice by Westbrook and Kaut\n\nRe
commended Text\n\nHandbook of MRI Technique 2nd Edition by Westbrook\n
\n*NOTE: The AHEC handbook is included in the course tuition.  Additi
onal text books must be purchased.  These books may be ordered from A
HEC in advance. Prior preparation is recommended and encouraged as adv
anced reading facilitates the speed of your learning.\n\nFor more info
