is one of the fastest evolving and exciting fields in medical imaging
. MRI has evolved to include cardiac MRI and functional MRI. You can b
e a part of this growing field with didactic (classroom) training and
practical clinical rotations. The marriage of a solid theoretical back
ground combined with clinical experience is the preparation needed to
enter this field. The practical applications and clinical rotations ar
e key ingredients to completing the training. You can choose the right
combination of events to match your needs. The first component of tra
ining is theory, with weeks two through four available for clinical ro
tations. Invest in your future and advance your career. Course Topics
Week 1 – Theory (total 32 hours) • 20 hours Fundamentals of image
 formation/ instrumentation/safety/physics of NMR • 12 hours Basic Pu
lse Sequences/Protocols/Image Analysis • CE Credit 32 Hours Weeks 2,
3,4 – Clinical Rotation Technologists enrolling in clinical rotation
s are required to complete the theory portion of the fellowship course
prior to being allowed to attend clinical rotations. 40 hours of clin
ical rotations (Monday-Friday) each week will give the fellowship tech
nologist the opportunity to experience a wide array of exams, be tutor
ed by experienced MR professionals who provide insights, advice, and h
elp you get the most out of your training. Certificate of Completion a
warded reflecting clinical hours completed. **No CE credit is awarded
for clinical hours This concentrated four-week modular course is desig
ned to introduce many aspects of MRI operation in a practical format f
ocused to promote understanding of concepts integrated with “hands o
n experience”. Course topics include computer operation, technical a
spects of MR imaging, fundamental evaluation of cross-sectional anatom
y, and image formation. The learning process is monitored and continuo
us. Due to the vast amount of information course attendees must proces
s; homework and or reading may be assigned each day. AHEC strives to p
rovide the highest quality of continuing education and training in a s
etting that promotes learning. Required Textbooks* • MRI in Practice
by Westbrook and Kaut Recommended Text • Handbook of MRI Technique
2nd Edition by Westbrook *NOTE. The AHEC handbook is included in the c
ourse tuition. Additional text books must be purchased. These books ma
y be ordered from AHEC in advance. Prior preparation is recommended an
d encouraged as advanced reading facilitates the speed of your learnin
