test evolving and exciting fields in medical imaging. MRI has evolved
to include cardiac MRI and functional MRI. You can be a part of this g
rowing field with didactic (classroom) training and practical clinical
rotations. The marriage of a solid theoretical background combined wi
th clinical experience is the preparation needed to enter this field.
The practical applications and clinical rotations are key ingredients
to completing the training. You can choose the right combination of ev
ents to match your needs. The first component of training is theory, w
ith weeks two through four available for clinical rotations. Invest in
your future and advance your career.Course TopicsWeek 1 – Theory (t
 otal 32 hours)• 20 hours Fundamentals of image formation/instrumenta
 tion/safety/physics of NMR• 12 hours Basic Pulse Sequences/Protocols
 /Image Analysis• CE Credit 32 Hours\nWeeks 2,3,4 – Clinical Rotati
onTechnologists enrolling in clinical rotations are required to comple
te the theory portion of the fellowship course prior to being allowed
to attend clinical rotations. 40 hours of clinical rotations (Monday-F
riday) each week will give the fellowship technologist the opportunity
to experience a wide array of exams, be tutored by experienced MR pro
fessionals who provide insights, advice, and help you get the most out
of your training.Certificate of Completion awarded reflecting clinica
l hours completed.**No CE credit is awarded for clinical hoursThis con
centrated four-week modular course is designed to introduce many aspec
ts of MRI operation in a practical format focused to promote understan
ding of concepts integrated with “hands on experience”. Course top
ics include computer operation, technical aspects of MR imaging, funda
mental evaluation of cross-sectional anatomy, and image formation. The
learning process is monitored and continuous.Due to the vast amount o
f information course attendees must process; homework and or reading m
ay be assigned each day. AHEC strives to provide the highest quality o
f continuing education and training in a setting that promotes learnin
g.\nRequired Textbooks*• MRI in Practice by Westbrook and KautRecomm
ended Text• Handbook of MRI Technique 2nd Edition by Westbrook*NOTE.
The AHEC handbook is included in the course tuition. Additional text
books must be purchased. These books may be ordered from AHEC in advan
ce. Prior preparation is recommended and encouraged as advanced readin
g facilitates the speed of your learning.\nSelf Assessment Module (SAM
