osimetrists has made it difficult for clinical staff to train addition
al personnel. MTMI has extensive experience in conducting intensive sh
ort training courses. This course is designed to provide efficient tra
ining in medical dosimetry with a rapid introduction to basic principl
es and an emphasis on their practical application in the clinic.\n\nTh
is program is a comprehensive 2-week training course with the curricul
um modeled after the AAMD Medical Dosimetry Education Programs Guideli
nes. The 2 weeks consist of 10 days of lecture and 2 days (Saturday an
d Sunday) of hands-on treatment planning training in small groups on t
reatment planning systems from various manufacturers in clinical sites
around the Milwaukee area. Following the 2-week course it is recommen
ded the trainee return to their facility to begin working in dosimetry
under the supervision of a medical physicist or qualified dosimetrist
. After 6 to 12 months of on-the-job experience the trainee could retu
rn for an Advanced Dosimetry Training Course. This advanced course wil
l review basic dosimetry techniques and provide a more thorough traini
ng in complex radiation oncology treatment techniques.\n\nPrerequisite
s for admission to the program includes certification as a RT(T) by th
e ARRT and at least 1 year of clinical experience as a radiation thera
pist or a BS degree in physics with some previous training on the basi
c concepts and procedures of radiation oncology and radiation safety.\
n\nThe course is not specifically designed to serve as a review course
for the MDCB registry examination. However, it would be an excellent
review for an experienced dosimetrist needing formal training on the p
rinciples of dosimetry in preparation for the board examination.\n\nTh
is course provides 78.0 hours of Category A credit for Radiologic Tech
nologists recognized by the ARRT and various licensure states.\nThis c
ourse also provides 63.5 hours of continuing medical education credit
for Certified Medical Dosimetrists recognized by the MDCB.\n\nA certif
icate of attendance will be provided for each individual upon completi
on of the course.\nAll attendees must attend the entire course to rece
ive full credit.\n\nINSTRUCTORS:\nBowen, Culberson, Holley, Kreul-Busk
erud, Slattery, Thomason, Howell\n\nCME HOURS: 78 hours Category A cre
 dit\n\nLECTURE TOPICS:\nBody Imaging\n\nACTIVITIES: not listed\n\nFor
